We started 2010 with a simple goal – to get from Thailand to Turkey sans airplane. By land and sea we crossed continents and cultures, ate and dined with anything with two, four and six legs, had the most delicious and most despicable meals of our lives, stomached all the forms of potato, two minute noodles and all the parts of pork that we possibly could. We tried ordering by sign language, their language, our language and when these didn’t work we resorted to simply ordering what those next to us were having. Finally after six months of travel, arriving in Turkey filled us with excitement to get back into the kitchen. We arrived brimming with ideas and enthusiasm, and now we are excited to be starting out on our next new adventure.

After three months of living the static life in Turkey we were delighted to be offered a simple job. Our task – cook and rephotograph a soup recipe from potatosoup.org. We’ve found this food photography business isn’t as easy as it may look, but it is lots of fun, so we started somedayspoon to chart our progress and report on other travel and food related finds along the way. And now the next stage in our non conventional world tour brings us to Taipei, Taiwan where a whole new set of food challenges and adventures awaits.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about anything feel free to send us an email here: hello@somedayspoon.com We look forward to hearing from you!
